# Etherbulb > Etherbulb is open-source firmware (GPL-3.0) that turns a cheap ESP32-C3 smart bulb (Athom / IoTorero LB01-12W-E27, RGB + warm/cold white) into a radio-aware lamp. The bulb's own Wi-Fi radio works as a receive-only software-defined radio for 1.84–2.73 GHz; the firmware classifies what it hears and colours the room accordingly – for example blue for Bluetooth, green for Wi-Fi, orange for Zigbee/Thread, yellow for mobile networks, magenta for analog FPV video. Stronger signal, brighter light. It also runs on the BTF-Lighting SP530E LED-strip controller (ESP32-C3, five channels). Key facts: - Hardware: Athom/IoTorero LB01-12W-E27 bulb (ESP32-C3) – flashes over Wi-Fi; BTF-Lighting SP530E controller (ESP32-C3, 5–24 V, 5 × 6 A) – first flash over UART with esptool --encrypt, then over Wi-Fi. - Receives: 2.13–2.73 GHz verified (1.84–2.13 GHz tunable, not yet verified). Not receivable: 5 GHz / 5.8 GHz FPV, anything below 1.8 GHz. - Detects by signal shape (width, channel grid, duration), never decodes content, never transmits on the bands it watches. Wi-Fi only as a normal client for the dashboard. - Dashboard on the bulb at http://etherbulb.local: live waterfall, colour matrix (colour, brightness, sensitivity per signal), 26 presets, mobile-network table (412 operator blocks, 39 European countries), light/dark theme. - Safety: RGB and white never run at the same time on the bulb (firmware lock). The SP530E may drive all five channels at once. - Recovery: switch off/on 3× quickly = 30 min Wi-Fi; 7× = rescue network "Etherbulb-Rescue-XXXX" (password etherbulb); after 3 crashes in a row the previous firmware boots. - Based on ESP-SDR by ESPARGOS; signal tables from the ESPsoup app (espsoup.com). Not affiliated with Athom, BTF-Lighting, Espressif or ESPARGOS. ## Pages - [Home](https://etherbulb.com/): what it shows, dashboard, where to buy, how to flash, FAQ - [Web flasher](https://etherbulb.com/flash/): bulb over the air, USB flasher (Web Serial), firmware downloads - [Firmware manifest](https://etherbulb.com/firmware/0.1.0/manifest.json): files, sizes, SHA-256 - [Privacy](https://etherbulb.com/privacy/) Source code: https://github.com/pit711/etherbulb (GPL-3.0)
