Flash Etherbulb from your browser.
Nothing is uploaded anywhere, and this site never asks for your Wi-Fi password. The bulb path works from any phone or computer. Only the USB flasher needs Chrome or Edge on a desktop (Web Serial).
Bulb over the air
The Athom / IoTorero bulb has no USB port, so the firmware goes in over Wi-Fi, through the bulb's own web page. Two steps: give the bulb your Wi-Fi, then upload the Etherbulb image there. Works from any phone or computer, iPhone included.
Step 1 – give the bulb your Wi-Fi
A factory bulb that knows no Wi-Fi opens an open hotspot – athom-rgbcw-xxxxxx (ESPHome) or IoTorero-xxxx / tasmota-xxxx (Tasmota). Join it, a setup page opens (otherwise go to http://192.168.4.1/), pick your Wi-Fi, enter the password, save. The bulb joins your network; find its address in your router's device list or as http://athom-rgbcw-xxxxxx.local/. Your password stays between your phone and the bulb.
Your Wi-Fi password never touches this website. You type it only on the bulb's own setup page, inside the bulb's hotspot. This page has no input fields for it, by design.
Step 2 – upload Etherbulb on the bulb's page
- Download etherbulb-athom-e27.bin (Etherbulb 0.1.0 for the Athom E27).
- Open the bulb's page in your browser (the link from step 1, or
http://athom-rgbcw-xxxxxx.local/). - ESPHome: scroll to “OTA Update”, choose the file, click Update. Tasmota: open
…/up(Firmware Upgrade), choose the file under “Upgrade by file upload”, click Start upgrade. - Wait about a minute. The bulb restarts as Etherbulb, keeps your Wi-Fi, and answers at
http://etherbulb.local. A Tasmota bulb restarts twice: on first boot Etherbulb moves the partition table to two slots so that later updates work.
Over USB
For the BTF-Lighting SP530E and any ESP32-C3 dev board with a USB-serial connection. Writes bootloader, partition table and Etherbulb in one go. The SP530E has no USB port: connect a USB-serial adapter (3.3 V) to its TX/RX/GND pads and hold BOOT (GPIO 9 to GND) while powering up.
Etherbulb-XXXX (password etherbulb), open http://192.168.4.1/, enter your home Wi-Fi under “Wi-Fi” and save. The lamp then shows up as http://etherbulb.local.Update a bulb that already runs Etherbulb
- Open your lamp's dashboard at http://etherbulb.local/ (or its IP address).
- Open “Receiver & system”, click Update firmware… and choose the image for your board from the list below.
- The lamp verifies the project name, writes the image into its second slot and restarts. If the new firmware crashes three times in a row, the previous one comes back by itself.
